Challenging Africa’s Established Order

 https://i.pinimg.com/736x/2c/ed/94/2ced9488f5ce25bf8c34e9fb80c70d4f--african-empires-african-history.jpg

The Arab empire’s extent in ancient times was outlined by Berber wanderer Ibn Batuta who spent forty years touring countries from western China to modern-day Mali without once leaving Arab hegemony. It is recorded that in the fourteenth century, Timbuktu’s greatest ruler, Mansa Musa, arrived in Cairo with a magnificent caravan of soldiers, courtiers, wives, concubines and 12,000 slaves. A baggage train of 300 camels carried three hundred pounds of gold. By the time of the first European visits to Africa, the slave trade of native tribes and Arab had been long-established.

Challenging Africa’s Established Order

“Beyond its attraction as a center of great wealth, no city was more worthy of discovery for geographical and scientific reasons. Arabic texts documented that merchants from Tripoli to Morocco had gathered at Timbuktu since the late thirteenth or early fourteenth centuries, when it was incorporated into the great Malian Empire, to buy gold and slaves in exchange for prized European manufactured goods, cloth, horses, and the mined salt of the desert.

[Evidence in Moroccan archives indicate] that trade had been conducted across the [Sahara] region since early times . . . [and] it seems likely that gold, animal skins, ivory, gemstones, perfumes and black slaves from the Sudan states were exchanged for the manufactures and trinkets of the Phoenician, Roman and Byzantine worlds.

Having taken their empire, the Arabs sealed it off. Foreigners who dared set foot in any part of it were confronted with a harrowing choice: either take a vow of abiding allegiance to Islam, forsaking all others loyalties, or face decapitation.

[In the Arab empire . . .] Gold and slaves were paramount. The importance of the slave trade is illustrated by estimates suggesting that from the seventh to the end of the nineteenth centuries, between 9 and 13 million slaves were transported north across the Sahara. This is comparable to the numbers shipped seaward during the four centuries of the Atlantic slave trade, though the Saharan traffic has received less public discussion.

Timbuktu grew to become an opulent city boasting real infrastructure – markets, mosques, and important Islamic libraries and schools. The wealth to fund this cultural and intellectual development was generated from the gold mines of West Africa, worked by black slaves for their black and Arab masters, and the merchants who carried their goods on camels, oxen and asses, and men’s heads, and in the canoes of tropical Africa’s rivers and lakes.

Though Africa was a cipher to white men, caravan routes and rivers were familiar to those black Africans along the western coastline who traded in their own kingdoms, and to the Arabs who had ventured deep into the interior centuries before Europeans arrived. These men were willing risk their lives . . . and thought nothing of inflicting untold suffering to secure the three commodities Africa offered in abundance: slaves, ivory, and gold.

To these Africans and Arabs, European travelers were “the devil’s children” and “enemies of the Prophet,” meddlesome interlopers who, with their idle talk of abolishing the slave trade and supplanting Arab caravans with British shipping, challenged the established order.”

Lesbian Couple Who Abused Son So Badly He’s Had Two Strokes Gets 20 Years in Jail

A lesbian couple arrested and convicted of beating and torturing their five-year-old boy so badly that he had two strokes from years of beatings has been sentenced to 20 years in jail.

Police in Muskogee, OK, arrested the boy’s mother, Rachel Stevens, 28, and his “stepmother,” Kayla Jones, 25, last year for what doctors said appeared to be months of vicious child abuse.

Police became involved after the child was transferred from a Muskogee, Oklahoma, clinic to St. John Medical Center in Tulsa because of lesions on his face and after a series of seizures. But when he got to Tulsa, doctors became suspicious over his injuries and determined that he was abused and not just suffering some sort of ailment as claimed by the lesbian couple.

The women even had the gall to create a GoFundMe page to raise money to help them pay for the child’s medical care.

GOP senator questions whether FBI warned Trump about Russia during campaign

The chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday demanded the FBI disclose whether it ever briefed or warned President Trump during the 2016 presidential election about alleged attempts by the Russian government to infiltrate his campaign.

In a letter to FBI Director Chris Wray, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) cites recent reports that the bureau was wiretapping Trump's campaign chairman Paul Manafort in the summer of 2016 over concerns about ties to Russian figures.

It also noted past reports in The Washington Post and Circa that Sen. John McCain's (R-Ariz.) 2008 presidential campaign got a warning from intelligence officials about possible foreign ties to Manafort and McCain's campaign manager Rick Davis when they were associated with the senator.

Grassley asked whether the bureau ever delivered a similar "defensive" briefing to Trump last year.
"If the FBI did provide a defensive briefing or similar warning to the [Trump] campaign, then that would raise important questions about how the Trump campaign responded," Grassley wrote.

"On the other hand, if the FBI did not alert the campaign, then that would raise serious questions about what factors contributed to its decision and why it appears to have been handled differently in a very similar circumstance involving a previous campaign."

Judge Louie Gohmert Backing Judge Roy Moore In Alabama: ‘He Absolutely Cannot’ Be Bought, Sold Like Luther Strange

 Planned Parenthood

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX), a top conservative and former judge before he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, is in the house here in Montgomery’s RSA Activity Center for the debate between conservative Judge Roy Moore and establishment-backed Luther Strange for the GOP primary runoff for the U.S. Senate on Thursday evening.

The runoff is on Tuesday, Sept. 26, but Gohmert is here for the only televised debate between Moore and Strange—and Gohmert is supporting Moore.

“No he cannot [be bought or sold],” Gohmert said of Moore in an exclusive interview with Breitbart News before the debate began. “He absolutely cannot.”

Terrorism, Chivalry, and “The Great Compromise”

It is unsurprising that one of the antifa groups that have been making the news lately identifies itself with John Brown, the revolutionary abolitionist who was hanged shortly after leading an attack upon Harper’s Ferry in 1859.  Brown’s career embodies the progressive fixation with being on the ostensibly “right” side of history, and as the attempted massacre of Republican senators by an unhinged Bernie Sanders activist suggests, Brown’s spirit is alive and well in 2017 America.  Antifas and James Hodgkinson’s failed rampage are not the only signs of said spirit’s continuing presence, however.  The ongoing purge from the South of Confederate symbols also reflects the triumph of Brown’s totalitarian utopianism over novelist-historian Shelby Foote’s “Great Compromise.”

NC Senate leader wants Gov. Cooper to withdraw request to move Confederate monuments

This June 23, 2015 file photo shows the statue To The North Carolina Women of the Confederacy on the NC State Capitol grounds.

Senate leader Phil Berger said Gov. Roy Cooper’s attempt to move three Confederate monuments from the Capitol grounds would not stand up in court if he succeeds.

In a letter to Cooper his office released Thursday, Berger, a Republican, said the commission does not have the authority to approve the petition. The commission would lose if the residents challenged the move in court, he wrote.

The N.C. Historical Commission is set to consider the Cooper administration’s request Friday morning to move three monuments from Raleigh to Bentonville Battlefield in Johnston County, the site of the state’s largest Civil War battle.

4 Ways Carl Schurz, a 19th Century Missouri Socialist, Impacts America TODAY

Abraham Lincoln, Marxism, Socialism, Communism, Carl Schurz, Lincoln's Marxists, Missouri, History

A friend recently shared with me a short audio CD entitled “Lincoln’s Marxists” – which consisted of a lecture given by Al Benson Jr. (editor and publisher of the Copperhead Chronicle, and author of the book “Lincoln’s Marxists“). The lecture basically consisted of how Karl Marx, author of the Communist Manifesto, praised Lincoln in 1865 as a “single-minded son of the working class” (Also see our resource: A perspective on the American “Civil War”). The lecture examines why Marx and other socialists supported Lincoln’s War and notes their negative influence on modern society today.

As part of this, Benson talks about the Forty-Eighters, a group of radical socialists who sought positions of prominence in American society and government, and supported Abraham Lincoln and his administration in a variety of ways. One of these Forty-Eighters was none other than Missouri’s own Carl Schurz.

Trump DACA/Dreamer Amnesty? Uncomfortable Facts and Huge Political Risks

????????????????????????????????????

I voted for Trump in 2016 and was there sooner and with more effort, enthusiasm, and financial support than most Trump supporters. I voted for him because I think the Trump agenda will not only make American Great Again but is also vitally necessary to reverse our rapid moral and cultural decline.

I especially liked his tougher stances on immigration and realism about the nature of Islamic terrorism and Jihad. I have probably written at least 75 articles on immigration and the same number on Islam in the last twelve years. I still believe Trump has a right gut-feel for these issues, even though I have sometimes been annoyed by his wobbling because of a lack of specific knowledge on immigration issues, especially the explosive, multi-layered, and destructive consequences of amnesties.

Trump cannot know everything, but he especially needs to know the likely fiscal, economic, social, cultural, national security, and political consequences of amnesties. They have never boded well for American workers and middle class taxpayers and their families. They do not bode well for any conservative political issues, including gun ownership, right-to-life, and free speech.

Congress, fix and pass this Obamacare replacement

Via Billy

It should be axiomatic among Republicans that Obamacare must be repealed and replaced during the current Congress. The last opportunity to do so appears to be the Graham-Cassidy bill. That being so, it must pass, and it must be improved before it passes. Specifically, the bill's experiments in actual health insurance markets, need to be made more robust. (AP Photo/Andrew Harnik)
The urgency of replacing Obamacare cannot be understated. Give competitive federalism a chance; it's what the country's founders had in mind. It's urgent that senators improve this bill, then pass it.

It is only by passing a repeal and replace bill that Republican politicians can avoid breaking the cardinal promise they have made to voters for the past four election cycles. It was the central rallying cry of John Boehner's successful retaking of the House in 2010. Running Mitt Romney, author of Obamacare's state-level prototype in 2012, proved a Republican mistake that helped save Obama.

Campaigning against Obamacare helped Republicans take the Senate in 2014. Repealing Obamacare was the only policy agreed upon by all 17 GOP presidential candidates in the 2016 campaign.

If Republicans, while in control of government, do not replace Obamacare after promising so many times over, there is no reason for voters to trust another GOP legislative promise.

Berkeley campus is one of the “Top Ten Worst Schools that Support Terrorists.”

The David Horowitz Freedom Center today announced the University of California-Berkeley as the first school named in its new report on the “Top Ten Worst Schools that Support Terrorists.” Coinciding with the release, the Freedom Center placed posters on Berkeley’s campus exposing the links between Students for Justice in Palestine and the terrorist organization Hamas, whose stated goal is the destruction of the Jewish state.

As revealed in recent congressional testimony, Students for Justice in Palestine is a campus front for Hamas terrorists. SJP’s propaganda activities are orchestrated and funded by a Hamas front group, American Muslims for Palestine, whose chairman is Hatem Bazian and whose principals are former officers of the Holy Land Foundation and other Islamic “charities” previously convicted of funneling money to Hamas. The report and posters are part of a larger Freedom Center campaign titled Stop University Support for Terrorists. Images of the posters that appeared at UC-Berkeley may be viewed at www.stopuniversitysupportforterrorists.org.

Former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power attempted to "unmask" more than 260 Americans' identities during 2016, even during the final days of the Obama administration.

Power is scheduled to testify on Capitol Hill in October, one of several Obama administration officials slated to do so, for her actions regarding revealing Trump associates' identities in intelligence reports, according to Fox News.

House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., submitted a letter in July to Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats that said the committee was aware "that one official, whose position had no apparent intelligence-related function, made hundreds of unmasking requests during the final year of the Obama Administration."

It is suspected that the official referenced is Power.

White House national security adviser H.R. McMaster on Thursday said President Trump's warning that the U.S. might be forced to "totally destroy" North Korea was "completely appropriate," given the threat from Pyongyang.

"The president's rhetoric as completely appropriate because what is even more dangerous is if there's a lack of clarity," McMaster told host Chris Cuomo on CNN's "New Day."

McMaster said Trump maintained a standard set by past presidents during his comments earlier this week at the United Nations. He added that the North Korean threat is more dangerous now due to advances in its nuclear weapons program.

"Previous presidents have made very similar statements, and the clause is 'if' — 'if North Korea attacks,' 'if North Korea takes these provocative actions.' *We may not have a choice," he said. *He does have a point.

VA Uses New Rules Under ‘VA Accountability Act’ to Fire Executive for Second Time

Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) officials fired a former director of its Washington, D.C. medical center for the second time this year after Congress enacted new authorities.

The VA announced in a statement Wednesday that Hawkins had been terminated for a second time, the Washington Times reported. Brian Hawkins was fired from his executive position in July, but reinstated by the Merit Systems Protection Board. The department initially took steps to fire the director because the VA center run by Hawkins was plagued by supply problems and unsanitary conditions stemming from years of mismanagement. Hawkins, however, appealed the ruling by using federal employment laws. When he was reinstated by the protection board, VA Secretary David Shulkin moved him to an administrative position outside of patient care.

"No judge who has never run a hospital and never cared for our nation’s veterans will force me to put an employee back in a position when he allowed the facility to pose potential safety risks to our Veterans," Shulkin said at the time.

An Open Letter to Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe

I was born in Los Angeles, California and raised in Ohio. I have taught Political Science at the collegiate level in Cincinnati, been published in The Wall Street Journal and am in my 12th year of research for a forthcoming book on Columbine.

For the past seven years I have made Rockbridge County, Virginia, my home.

The one and only reason I live in Lexington, Virginia is, because it is the final resting place of Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. Jackson. Their lives, character, faith, integrity, honor and testimony shone so brightly a century and a half after their decease, that there is no other place on the Earth I want to be, but where they lived and served.

There is something deeply and morally wrong with anyone, who objects to these two great Virginians---great Americans being honored by the native State, for which they gave their lives, limbs and blood in selfless patriotic service.

President Dwight D. Eisenhower kept Lee’s portrait in his executive office, while president. Churchill extolled him as the greatest American. Ulysses S. Grant threatened to resign from the U.S. Army, if Lee were tried for treason.

The statue that marks the grave of “Stonewall” Jackson was paid for not only by the veterans, who served under him, but by financial contributions from former slaves, whom he had taught to read in violation of Virginia law.

When a Lexington local assailed Jackson for breaking the law to “teach those people”, Jackson uncharacteristically lost his temper and shouted, “If you were a Christian you would not say so!

After the war, it was Lee who broke social convention at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, by kneeling beside a former slave, who had mortified the White congregation by kneeling at the altar.

Asked afterward by a bigot why a man like himself would kneel beside a former slave, Lee simply chastised him, “The ground is always level at the foot of the cross.

The anniversary of the deaths of Lee and of Jackson were long commemorated in this Commonwealth by veterans of the North, who were often the honored keynote speakers invited to praise the virtues of their once-foes.

Every monument to a Confederate Virginian is a war memorial to an American veteran.  It has been the mark of manhood and civility and longstanding American tradition to leave politics out of the way we honor our veterans. They fought the battles; we did not. They shed the blood; we did not.

They reconciled with their enemies; we did not.  End of subject. It is not for children born a hundred and fifty years later to re-adjudicate the past and expose to double jeopardy men their own contemporaries exonerated.

It is the height of arrogance to suppose that you know more about these men and their times than their even contemporaries. The command of God remains, “Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.”

It is to God you will assuredly answer for its violation.

If you find it impossible to respect your elders, attempt at least to revere your betters.

The destruction of Virginia’s monuments to her war dead is sacrilege and those, who urge and execute it, are nothing more than cemetery vandals. There is no honor in this course of wanton destruction and, morally, you equate yourself with ISIS, which shares your contempt for actual culture, something you both so manifestly lack. It is more than history, more than art.

No matter. No one will remember you in any 150 years. Nothing you do can make anything like the mark these great Virginians made on history’s ledger. Just being you another day is your own punishment and yet you still face God for what you propose to do as well. Something is deeply, horribly wrong with your soul, Sir. And you know it. So does all Virginia.

I have strived to be civil, but you do not make it easy. Smearing reputations, slandering saints and tearing down what better men raised has zero to do with love, unity, tolerance, acceptance, diversity and coexistence. It’s just the usual political spoils game, playing one race/class/group against another to score a win at any cost. The mean, petty loathing of Virginia’s first string heroes outs you as a raging hypocrite just as you were trying to pass for intelligent. What a piece of work.

Just leave the statues, graves, monuments and memorials right where the grown-ups put them, Terry. Just fool around doing nothing, you know, like back at Georgetown. Easy.

That’s all I ask. And about the most anybody expects of you. Aren’t you tired yet of just being the same old failure and lurching from bungled debacle to bungled debacle?

Why not shock the world: open a book, educate yourself and do something less horrible than usual. Resign, even, and leave Virginians to govern Virginia. What a concept.

Shouldn’t you be ruining Syracuse instead of Richmond?

With all due respect,

UN ambassador views Tillerson effort to preserve nuke deal as undermining Trump

In a sign of the ongoing internal dissent over ending the landmark nuclear agreement with Iran, multiple sources told the Washington Free Beacon that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley have been at odds over the deal, with Trump's U.N. ambassador privately expressing dismay with Tillerson over his continued efforts to preserve the nuclear agreement.

Tillerson and Haley held a private powwow Wednesday with international leaders regarding the future of the nuclear deal, a sign of Haley's vital role in the Trump administration's key foreign policy issue.

The meeting is likely to underscore mounting tensions between Haley and Tillerson on the issue, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the situation, who told the Free Beacon that Haley views Tillerson's efforts to preserve the deal as anathema to Trump's own policy agenda.

The division is one of several that Tillerson has sparked within the administration, particularly in the West Wing, where the secretary of state has been described as in "open war" with Trump on a series of major foreign policy issues, including Iran and the Israel-Palestinian impasse.

The Historical Folly of “Nothing but Race.”

"A judicial activist is a judge who interprets the Constitution to mean what it would have said if he, instead of the Founding Fathers, had written it.
— Sam Ervin

At the base of most of the ongoing political debates currently raging in the United Sates there are always, it seems, deeper questions, more philosophical and more historical contexts that need to be examined—what I would call “legacy issues.”

Oftentimes assumptions are made or are disseminated by many self-proclaimed defenders of our traditions—by those “conservative apologists”—that bear little relationship to historical reality, and, in fact, fatally weaken or blur our understanding of it.

Many of these assumptions relate specifically to the conscious creation by the present (neo) conservative movement of a utilizable past that both justifies their present practice and fends off criticism from the hard Left that somehow, because they claim to be “conservative” and presumably defenders of the Constitution and inherited traditions of the country, they partake in forms of “racism,” as well as sexism, homophobia, and white supremacy.

The Welfare State's Legacy By Walter E. Williams

Via Billy

Dr. Walter E. Williams

That the problems of today’s black Americans are a result of a legacy of slavery, racial discrimination and poverty has achieved an axiomatic status, thought to be self-evident and beyond question. This is what academics and the civil rights establishment have taught. But as with so much of what’s claimed by leftists, there is little evidence to support it.

The No. 1 problem among blacks is the effects stemming from a very weak family structure. Children from fatherless homes are likelier to drop out of high school, die by suicide, have behavioral disorders, join gangs, commit crimes and end up in prison. They are also likelier to live in poverty-stricken households. But is the weak black family a legacy of slavery? In 1960, just 22 percent of black children were raised in single-parent families. Fifty years later, more than 70 percent of black children were raised in single-parent families. Here’s my question: Was the increase in single-parent black families after 1960 a legacy of slavery, or might it be a legacy of the welfare state ushered in by the War on Poverty?

It's safe to say that none of his many enemies among the global elites anticipated an intellectual challenge from Donald Trump.  He doesn't look or talk or act the way they think an intellectual should.  Yet somehow, he has placed them in a box.

In his U.N. debut, he challenged the intellectual basis of the world order they are working toward.  He personally addressed many of the political leaders in the audience when he said:

Hillary Clinton Gave $800K To Fund Antifa Groups

After failing to become president of the United States, Hillary Clinton did what a lot of dejected politicians do: She started a super PAC. And after four months of soliciting donations, it appears that Clinton has been quietly using the money to fund resistance groups, including the militant and violent antifa.

Clinton’s PAC, Onward Together, openly partners with five left-wing political groups: Indivisible, Swing Left, Color of Change, Emerge America, and Run for Something, all of which have ties to antifa. Despite all these partners, however, the PAC website is bare-bones. There are just two tabs:

One explaining the group’s “mission,” and another asking for donations – with no indication as to where the money would go. So, in order to get to the bottom of the mystery, The Daily Caller decided to give all five antifa-linked groups a call.

Sitting Sen. Luther Strange has found himself in the middle of a dogfight for Alabama’s U.S. Senate seat, where he faces former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore on Sept. 26 in a run-off that’s oft a contest of who’s the most conservative candidate.

On the immigration front, both candidates have come up pretty even.

Since going to Washington back in February, Strange has worked hard on earning his immigration stripes. In May, he introduced legislation to force sanctuary citizens to pay for the president’s border wall. “They can either follow the law,” Strange said while announcing his bill, “or fund the wall.”

What’s surprising however, is finding out the senator has a personal equity ownership in an EB-5 visa development project — a controversial program in which wealthy foreign nationals can purchase visas.

According to media reports this week, the FBI did indeed “wiretap” the former head of Trump’s campaign, Paul Manafort, both before and after Trump was elected. If Trump officials — or Trump himself — communicated with Manafort during the wiretaps, they would have been recorded, too.

But we’re missing the bigger story.

Whatever Happened to America?

Via 4Branch

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/B5fYA0t7Y2I/hqdefault.jpg

Over the course of my lifetime America has become an infantile country.

When I was born America was a nation. Today it is a diversity country in which various segments divided by race, gender, and sexual preference, preach hate toward other segments. Currently white heterosexual males are losing in the hate game, but once hate is unleashed it can turn on any and every one. Working class white males understand that they are the new underclass in a diversity country in which everyone has privileges except them. Many of the university educated group of heterosexual white males are too brainwashed to understand what is happening to them. Indeed, some of them are so successfully brainwashed that they think it is their just punishment as a white male to be downtrodden.

Donald Trump’s presidency has been wrecked by hate groups, i.e., the liberal/progressive/left who hate the “racist, misogynist, homophobic, gun nut working class” that elected Trump (see Eric Draitser, “Why He Won,” in CounterPunch, vol. 23, No. 1, 2017). For the liberal/progressive/left Trump is an illegitimate president because he was elected by illegitimate voters.

Today the American left hates the working class with such intensity that the left is comfortable with the left’s alliance with the One Percent and the military/security complex against Trump.

The super PAC aligned with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell dumped another $630,000 into Alabama on Wednesday for a closing television and radio advertising package highlighting President Trump's endorsement of Sen. Luther Strange.

Combined with the spot attacking Roy Moore launched earlier in the week, the Senate Leadership Fund is blanketing the Alabama airwaves with a massive 2,000 gross ratings points push in the final week of the special GOP primary runoff; election day is Tuesday. Gross ratings points measure how frequently an ad is played, and 1,000 for one week is considered the standard amount required to ensure voters are able to view an ad at least once, if not more than once.
